In 2005, PFC David Kelley was stationed in Northern Iraq with 1/68 AR BN, U.S. Army, dealing with murderous Iraqi terrorists, Georgian Army units which failed to follow instructions, and roadside bombs targetted at U.S. troops.
While he was fighting for our freedom there, and to bring some stability and peace to that country,
his wife Stacey put up a small sign on their front lawn in Westchase, Florida, pictured below,
saying "Support Our Troops."

A PFC in the Army, as of May, 2006, made, before taxes, $17,128, only a tad above the U.S. Census Bureau's poverty guidelines for a family of two ($13,200).

Stacey's property owners' association told her to take the sign down,  imposed a daily fine on the Kelleys, and started to bluster and threaten. While their reasoning has never been made exactly clear, many believe association board members thought the sign was depreciating property values in the "restricted deed" community.
Stacey told the association board, literally, at one of their meetings, "Bring It On."
Stacey lost her civilian job in the local neighborhood because of the commotion over the sign.

But the sign stayed up.

USNVA also supports their mission.

While on home leave, David received an award from the Association's Florida Chapter for his service to the Nation in the War on Terror.
After he returned to duty in Iraq, David also received an
Army-specific Enduring Freedom Fund care package from the U.S. Navy Veterans Association.
David and Stacey also received a grant from the
Florida Chapter of the U.S. Navy Veterans Association
in support of their message of patriotism
to the American people, and, quite simply and straightforwardly,  in support of their sign.
